Heading to find some Snow!

 Headed North!

As many of you have heard, I am headed to Glenwood Minnesota for Spring Break! I figured since Pennsylvania hasn't really had a winter, that I needed to go find some snow! Not really, but here we go!

How did this trip come about?

Last May I was selected to participate in the GOALs program which stands for, Global Orientation to Agricultural Learning. With this, I was able to attend the World Food Prize in Des Moines Iowa and the second part of my immersion occurs next week! I will be traveling along with, Emily Jay, my travel buddy to Minnewaska High School to teach some lessons about global Agriculture. I am lucky enough to teach 12 juniors and seniors in a global agriculture class. I am excited to get to interact with them and do some fun activities! I will be teaching lessons on the World food prize, the laureates, sustainable development goals, seed vault, and common crops! Emily and I will also be working with a group of elementary schoolers on Tuesday afternoon as part of the Farm Bureau after school program! We will be doing a craft, having a snack and reading a book about sheep with these students!

What else are we doing?

I am also exited to be checking off another state and exploring Minnesota! We will hopefully be able to see some working farms in the state, as well as get some industry tours. We have been told that we may get to try out some snow shoes, which will be an experience! We are staying in a very nice Air B n B, that is a country style farm house with a little farm surrounding it.

So, What are we waiting for?

There is lots to do before we take off! Lots of packing (warm clothes) and finalizing lesson plans. I am excited to get more experience teaching in the classroom, as my 15 week student teaching internship is very quickly approaching. Emily and I will be traveling to Philadelphia Airport, and flying out from there! I think it is cool that our school is only about 20 miles from Noah and Brandon's school, so we will be traveling as a pod of 4. This will be an extra cool experience as we can all discuss our different experiences at our schools!

That is all for now! Just have to finish packing, getting to the airport and then we are ready to teach!

Stay tuned to see how our week goes!
